I had such a great experience with VES. I brought my kitty, Phoebe in with a severe eye ulcer that refused to heal for months. I work at an animal hospital myself so believe me when I say I tried everything before coming to see Dr. Schmidt. The whole staff is friendly and professional and Dr. Schmidt quickly diagnosed my girl with a corneal sequestrum. Phoebe underwent surgery and has healed beautifully with no complications during or after. Thank you VES!!! You helped my best girl and I’ll forever be grateful.

I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Dr. Cho and her wonderful staff. From the moment I called, they were incredibly accommodating, making sure my sweet old man, Brownie, was seen promptly. They responded to my emails quickly, even following up with phone calls to answer all of my questions. Dr. Cho always took the time to explain everything clearly, which made me feel confident in the care he was receiving. Although Brownie wasn't with us for very long after his visits, the team’s kindness was felt even after his passing, as they sent a heartfelt condolence card. I highly recommend Dr. Cho and her compassionate team for anyone needing exceptional care for their beloved pets.

I can not say enough good things about this office, amazing staff, doctors and techs who care about your pet. They accommodated my older pit who is a big mush and wants his mommy all the time, answered questions on the phone, gave instructions on what to do before our first visit, now having gone there 3 times, my pup walks in calm and happy. Educated me on what was wrong and what we can do. I can not recommend this office enough, they are great!

I took my Bella Mia here as a puppy to see Dr. Cho back in 2012. Dr. Cho did an amazing job with her cherry eye (she had them in both!) and her eyes have been beautiful since. Recently we took Bella back for an ulcer on her eye. Bella's ulcer has healed. Dr. Schmidt was wonderful with Bella. Everyone at this office is amazing. Thank you for taking care of my fur baby.

After calling a number of other different Emergency / Vet Eye locations that were not courteous or was rude or just plain not helpful, this place was such a relief during my dire need to find a vet opthalmologist that could squeeze my dog and I in for an emergency visit (at request of my primary vet). This was my first visit here and the staff was so kind, courteous, and immediately made it feel comforting. And just from their interaction with my dog (who barks quite a bit when nervous/scared, or initially around new people/other dogs but is typically quiet otherwise), I knew they were so caring and understanding of her feeling as they just reacted in an adaptive and nursing manner. This was when I knew this was the right place (as compared to another place that gave her a glaring and disapproving eye when she barked a lot).

We met with Dr. Schmidt and she was absolutely wonderful and pleasant to talk with. She was very knowledgeable and showed great care and understanding when examining my dog.

I look forward to the future follow up visits as my dog works through the treatment and care received here.

From the CSR at the front desk who was extremely friendly, to the beautiful Mudi that sat behind the desk - my first visit at the eye specialist was great. Dr. S was great in her exam & explaining her findings to me & what to expect going forward. She answered all questions without it feeling rushed. Very affordable for being a specialist & would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing eye care for their pets.

I wish I could do more than give a 5-star review to Dr. James Gaarder and his amazing staff. Dr. Gaarder SAVED my dog's eye and we are so beyond thankful for his help and guidance on treating her.

I called the office hysterically crying because another doctor prescribed medications that made my dog's eye significantly worse and I didn't know who to turn to - Sarah, the angel of this office, stayed on the line with me and listened to everything I said so kind and patiently. Sarah told us to rush in and our Emma would be seen on an emergency case.

We drove all the way to their office from Staten Island and Dr. Gaarder was informative on her condition, treatment, and roadmap to her full recovery. He explained everything to us to where we could understand fully and he was also very kind and careful with our little girl. They prescribed medications with clear instructions throughout Emma's recovery and we were able to bring her in for checkups, noticing positive gradual results each week.

Emma's eye is now 100% better - she made a full recovery and if we waited any longer she would have lost her right eye. Sarah, thank you so much for helping us and letting us come in immediately. Words cannot describe how amazing you are, and also to all of the staff members, technicians, and of course Dr. Gaarder for saving our baby girl.

Emma developed an ulcer, was prescribed a steroid which led the ulcer to get worse, and it developed into a Corneal Stromal Abscess.
Her eye was completely cloudy, full of pus and she could not open her eye at all..
