I won’t be bringing my dog back there. I’m unhappy with the way the vet and staff treated us. Also, my puppy was within one pound of the full prescription for heartworm and would have reached the weight within a day or two because she’s a large breed. But the vet would not give me a prescription and wanted to charge me $45 again for a monthly dosage and have me come back! I decided to buy the meds online from Canada for a lot less and I found a new vet. I’m very disappointed!

Update: this is the letter this guy sent me today! I would avoid this place at all costs!

“We have decided to end our veterinary client patient relationship effective immediately with Stella Luna for Riverdale Veterinary Clinic . As we feel that our relationship is no longer in the best interest of Riverdale Veterinary Clinic . Please find attached records to bring with you to your new veterinarian of your choice. No further contact or visit to the clinic.”

I was so pleased at how my dog and I were treated by the staff. Dr. Shewmaker showed great care and compassion for my difficult dog. Taylor was incredibly thorough in pricing and treatment. The front office staff all happy kind and couteous. So glad the new ownership has created a positive enviornment in our community.

My wife took our cat to them for a urinary tract infection. After the exam they sent her home with a prescription and the bill. When she went over it with me we found out they charged us for a rabies shot without our knowledge or consent. She made multiple phone calls with no return calls. Today she stopped by there to get a refund and was told the tech said it was gone over in detail and no refund would be made. It’s not the cost of the shot but the way it was done I have an issue with. No discussion no consent never should have been given the shot. AVOID at all cost.

I have been incredibly impressed with the kindness and professionalism of this Veterinary clinic. I have three animals, two cats and one German Shepherd and have been looking for a great vet near Lehigh for a long time. I have brought my animals here since finding them and have never left without assistance and a feeling that the clinic went above and beyond to take care of my animals. Not only are they amazing in practice but they are fair as well. The doctor and his technicians won't tell you your animal NEEDS something unless they NEED it and are very clear about what are additional things you CAN do as opposed to what you should do. All of this at fair prices and a delightful staff. I will be bringing all of my animals here for their treatments and check up for a long time and would reccomend everyone in the area to do the same.

Dr. Shewmaker and his staff are amazing, kind, compassionate, and very skilled at what they do. My cat was very sick, and I was very worried about her. She wasn't able to eat, and threw up what she tried to eat. The staff at Riverdale Veterinary Clinic were able to schedule a visit the same day, which is so valuable to me to get in that quickly. They ran tests, and were able to treat her immediately. After they treated her, and once I returned home and gave her the prescribed medication, she ate her food right away.

Everyone is very kind and understanding, every visit, explaining how they can help, answering questions, and listening to any additional requests and concerns. If you're looking for a high quality, thorough vet, you will get the best care possible with Dr. Shewmaker and staff. He has provided care for both my cat and dog, and does an amazing job! I highly recommend!

If I could give MORE than 5 stars for Riverdale Veterinary Clinic, I would!!! We are new to the area, and I made an appointment for our dog because he was dealing with an issue. Not only did they squeeze us into the schedule early the next day to get him checked (and to accommodate my work schedule), the vet knew what the issue was right away and instantly helped our dog and fixed the issue! Our dog feels so much better, and I'm relieved it wasn't something major. Everyone in the office is friendly and warm, and they handled everything with professionalism, integrity and care. Thank you to the entire team!!!

Dr. Shewmaker and his amazing staff squeezed us in during the holiday week for an emergency surgery when a mass burst on our 13 year old golden retriever. The surgery went great and they took such good care of our fur baby. We appreciate them tremendously! You can bring your pets there with full confidence in them!
