Everyone was very kind it was my first time there. My little bird needed his nails trimmed and I wanted someone that knows what they are doing to do it. The vet came in and did a nice job and her assistant was sweet. I will take him back again.

I would just like to share an experience with local and "snowbird" pet owners. My fur babies and I have supported another veterinary hospital for about 15 years, through many changes because we were very loyal to our favorite Vet, Jennifer Waltman. After the clinic was sold to a corporation, our favorite left, as did many other team members who had served us. We found that they raised prices, reduced services and wanted to refer to "specialty" vets due to limited coverage in their practice. We found and followed Dr. Waltman from location to location and she recently turned up at "Paws and Perches." The clinic is clean and cozy, more hands on than high-tech, but most important, it felt like "home." The team is very caring and responsive and the resident veterinarian, Ashley Lab, is thorough, knowledgeable and compassionate. They are open 7 days a week and move their emergency patients to the top of the list. Two weeks ago, we had to make a tough decision with our Sissy and the entire staff showed support before and after she passed. Last week, our other 14 year old pup suffered a stroke and we were back again to Dr. Lab. We were worked in on Saturday morning and we have started a course of treatment that is working better that we could have hoped for! If you are looking for a local veterinarian, I would strongly endorse Dr. Lab and the entire team at Paws and Perches in Lake Wales.

When my sister brought her puppy in for a neutering they were not very friendly at all. They wouldn’t make eye contact with her and would not answer her questions. It seems like new customers are not as important as existing customers after viewing some of the other reviews. I had a bad experience here as well a few years ago with my kitten but we hoped they would be better this time. The price after my sisters visit was ridiculous and they did not explain why it was so expensive when asked. We are very disappointed and will not be coming back. Who goes in to get their small puppy neutered and spends over $700. It doesn’t make sense.

Staff is very friendly. Took care of the checkup and shots really quickly, and my cat was in and out in no time! I love that the staff were doing their best to keep him calm and relaxed during the whole process.

They were gentle with my birds friendly staff, the Dr explained everything in detail. I have to drive an hour to get there because she's the closest avion vet to me. My cockatiel had his beak over grown and she filed it down and made him a happy bird.

Our first time visit at Paws and Perches Animal Hospital was exceptional. Dr. Lab and her staff were amazing. We were quickly seen and all Darla’s screening was done efficiently and with great care and compassion. Dr. Lab listened to me and went through the meds I brought and she worked up a plan to take Darla through the next year. It was the best experience I’ve had and I’ve had many dog, cats and veterinarians. I look forward to using Paws and Perches for any pet we get in the future.

My dog was traumatized following his visit. He tried to get off the exam table when they were taking his temperature. This was clearly avoidance behavior, behavior that a dog uses when he doesn't like the situation he is in, but is not willing to be aggressive or bite. He just wanted to get away from the thermometer they were putting up his backside. Because of their policy of pet owners remaining seated during the exam, I was unable to calm my dog so he would hold still. Their solution to his non-aggressive avoidance behavior was to muzzle him! Never in his life has my dog shown aggression or was myzzled. He spent the week following his appointment cowering in the corner, hiding in his crate, and flinching every time he was touched. It took a lot of work to build his self-esteem back up. I understand that they want to finish the exam and take vitals as quickly as possible, but one would think they would take at least a few minutes to build trust with the animals they are working with.
