Healvet is the best vet in Dallas IMO. They are very thorough and are always considering the total health of your pet. They are well respected for their senior and therapy services and help with every stage your pet is in and help keep them happy and mobile but are well equipped when your pet needs extra as they age. Very comforting. They schedule their appts far enough apart so that the waiting room is not ever busy. We have a large great dane puppy so a clear waiting room is less crazy. A huge plus IMO.

I set up an appointment for my 16 y/o Aussie who has arthritis and degenerative joint disease at Heal Vet. Several emails were exchanged between "Maggie" and myself and on 8/23/24, she confirmed an appointment was made for my dog for an initial assesssment on 9/6/24. I completed and submitted the long intake questionnaire they required, which provided my phone number and email info.. Maggie confirmed they received the completed questionnaire and would call me the following week for the $100 deposit they require, prior to the appointment (That was the first red flag. How many MDs or DVMs require a deposit paid prior to your appointment?) I received a few emails asking when would be a good time for them to call me, to which I replied with the best time to call me. Maggie stated she would call me 9/3/24 at the time I gave her, to collect the deposit. I never heard from her, including the night before my appointment on 9/5/24, when I responded to her email again, telling her I was home and available for her to call me. Whenever I tried to call the clinic, it was never answered and immediately went to a voice mail. I arrived at Heal Vet for my scheduled appointment 9/6/24 and was then told I "wasn't on their schedule for today, because they had not received the $100 deposit". Batbara also stated the "phone number I gave them was a wrong number and belonged to a car dealership". I told her that is incorrect, that the number I provided them on my questionnaire was correct and the only phone number I had. I then had her call the number I provided them, which went straight to my phone and I showed her my phone which was ringing that had her Heal Vet caller id showing on my phone. I also stated that NONE of the emails from Maggie or Barbara, all of which I responded too, stated that my appointment for 9/6/24 would be or was canceled, due to THEIR failure to collect the deposit. Barbara had no answers to any of this, but did continue to focus on her main priority, which was collecting the $100 NON refundable deposit, in order to "reschedule" my appointment. I stated I was too angry to schedule another appointment at that time and requested a call today from Dr. Barton, the clinic owner, to discuss what had transpired. Barbara stated she would have Dr. Barton call me later today. It is currently 8:30 p.m., the clinic closed at 5:30 p.m., is not open again until Monday 9/9/24 and I did not receive a call from Dr. Barton. So much for an expectation that at least the owner of this clinic, would behave in a professional and courteous manner.......
Seriously This was gross incompetence and if something as simple as being able to read and dial a phone number provided to them and call a new client at the time they were given, is above their capability, I can't imagine entrusting them with my beloved and adored 16 y/o Aussie!

I’m a veterinarian myself and bring my almost 13 year old dog , Riley, to Dr. Gaines and Lisa (his PT nurse) for once weekly acupuncture, water treadmill, laser, and massage therapy. I cannot express how much his rehab has improved his quality of life. I am so thankful for the HEAL staff for helping keep Riley comfortable in his senior years when medication alone wasn’t helping with arthritis of his hips and neck/back pain.
I have referred many senior pet parents to HEAL when medications alone aren’t enough and everyone has been super happy with their experience!

Today was an exciting day! Ralf graduated from rehab and physical therapy at HEAL. Ralf ruptured a disc in the summer and became paralyzed in his hind legs. After his surgery I found HEAL and they quickly got me in for an evaluation with Dr. Gaines and we worked to develop a rehab plan based on Ralf's individual needs.

Lisa was assigned to Ralf for his physical therapy and took extra special care of him at each visit. This was important because the first few weeks we went 2xs a week and the progress he made was incredible. After his reevaluation we dropped down to 1x per week and after each visit there was a noticeable difference in how well he was recuperating. To say Ralf loved visiting with Lisa is an understatement because whenever we pulled up into the parking lot he got so excited and would even go looking for her after his acupuncture.

Everyone at HEAL is amazing to work with and truly care about their patients and their parents too.

After getting tired of regular vets wanting to treat my dogs allergies with medication rather than figuring out the root cause, I seeked out a vet who practiced integrative medicine to be Cabelas new primary care vet. Finding Dr. Gaines and HEAL has been a god send. Dr. Gaines is by far the most intelligent vet I have ever met and he takes the time to explain everything to ensure you understand the science and facts behind any diagnoses. The entire staff at HEAL treats my dog Cabela as if she is one of their own dogs which has been so comforting during covid when she has had to go into the office without me. For anyone in the DFW area who values their pets and considers them part of their family, HEAL is truly the only option for their care and/or rehabilitation.

I love HEAL so much. My sweet little dog, Peanut, had a bad experience at her old vet and has since become quite fearful and aggressive at the vet. Dr. Gaines has always taken the time to treat her with kindness. This past visit, he changed the order in which he did her exam/shots to see if it would make her less stressed, and it did! When he called me after to give me the report, he was so excited and so was I. This level of care for a patient that he sees (typically) once a year impressed me so much. I have had to take Peanut to after hours vets twice and Dr. Gaines has always been super helpful when I contact HEAL afterwards. I cannot say enough good things about him and the team at HEAL. They even comment on Peanut's Instagram account sometimes and that always makes my day! Right now we just use them because they deal with my sassy Peanut, but I am so happy to know that they have the knowledge and skills if she has any big issues as she gets older.
