Just took my dog Pearl here for the first time. I have to say I am impressed. I have never had a vet provide as many details as our Dr did. She was thorough, very knowledgeable, and came up with a great plan to treat my dogs allergies. She took the time to educate us and provide resolutions for Pearl. Price was great so that was a plus. I’m so thankful I found this vet.

Edit:

Since writing this review (and receiving a prompt response from the Medical Director), all of my issues were dealt with and I've received top notch care from everyone at the clinic.

Some notes (1) the ultrasound doctor and her veterinary technician were likely responsible for the nick of Spirit's tummy (2) due to the issue of the prescription not going through for the steroids I received two complementary steroid injections (3) the vet now performs most procedures in the exam room and (4) I feel like I wait shorter times to be seen upon arrival.

Family VetCare has my highest recommendation! Thanks so much for your care and attention ? it means so much to me and my cats.

Original review below:

Dr. Zenk is a good vet, knowledgeable and kind/caring. She knows her stuff, and was able to diagnose my ailing cat. She also provides different options and understands that costs can be high so makes sure you know what is priority to have done if you don't have the funds for more expensive procedures.

The clinic overall needs work in some areas. For example, my cat's prescription wasn't sent in (after one week since approved by the doctor) and they nicked his tummy during shaving for his ultrasound and it's now probably infected. It also took awhile to approve his prescription diet food.

I also don't love how they take the patient to the back and don't do anything in the exam room. Plus, I always have to wait a long time before being seen despite making an appointment and being on time.

I don't know how to feel, the service is sometimes pretty good but other times I don't like the treatment. I think they are understaffed or overbooked or both.

They are pretty responsive with calls and texts though, and I appreciate that. I wish they could get back to me sooner sometimes but I also know they are busy.

I will start off by saying I’ve been using this vet office since 2017 and take both my dogs to this facility. On Monday 2/8, I took my dog in for a hernia repair. I received a call around 12PM to let me know that my dog was out of surgery and everything went great. I was advised by Doctor Metcalf that I could pick up my dog around 230 to 3 PM. I arrived at 3PM to pick up my dog and immediately notice that my dog was drooling excessively and her eyes were popping out of her head. I proceeded to ask the vet assistant if this was normal because she’s had other procedures in the past, and I had never seen her look like that. He reassured me that it was part of the anesthesia, and in a few hours she would go back to normal. I left the facility and about 10 minutes later, I receive a call from the vet, letting me know they made a mistake & my dog was given twice the amount of pain medicine, and that I needed to turn around and bring her back so that they could give her another shot to reverse the effects of the medication. When I return back to the facility, the vet assistant came into the room and took my dog for a few minutes, gave her a shot brought her back and told me that I could go ahead and head home did not give me any instructions on next steps, I was extremely concern & upset. It took about 6-7 hours for my dog to stop drooling & finally begin to look normal. The doctor was not in the room nor did he reach back out to me until later that night when they heard that I had called to file complaint. They also share with me that this is not the first time that this has happened with some of their dog patients. Needless to say, I will not be bringing my babies back to this location. In addition their director reached out to ask for feedback and apologized, as loyal patient of almost 7 years I feel this could have been handled in a better manner. I will be formally filing a complaint with the Vet Board of AZ.
