I've been using El Cerrito Veterinary Care since they opened. Courteous front desk staff and vet techs. Dr. Buttar is thorough and takes time for any question you have. Not the least expensive, but not as expensive as some.

Dr. Fernandez is professional and thorough and clearly explains what's going on to us. We also appreciate the written materials we get from her after the visit.
Saturday appointments if necessary are helpful.
Support staff is friendly and helpful, although I didn't especially like one person, but I believe they are no longer there.
Cost is comparable to other good clinics, sometimes even a bit lower.
EC Vet Care is a great complement to our holistic veterinarian and allows us to combine both an allopathic and holistic/alternative therapies.

I’ve been coming to this vet since my dog was 8 weeks old… she’s 4 now. When I first started coming here it had phenomenal reviews. It’s going downhill fast. Everyone is rude and has a bad attitude. They canceled a vaccine appointment LAST MINUTE because my dog is due for an annual exam in a couple weeks? Ummm ok…must be a new rule? They called 20 minutes before my appointment along with the awful attitude from the person on the phone was absolutely uncalled for. Unfortunately I’m going to have to find a new vet.

I appreciated being seen by Dr. Fernandez and El Cerrito Pet Hospital on very short notice (same day), even though my pet was not a regular patient. The place was clean and uncrowded and the staff was professional and caring. They were upfront about costs and Dr. Fernandez was knowledgeable and skilled and compassionate.

I’ve always had good experiences here. My cat has severe allergies and Dr. Fernandez helped us get things under control. The staff are friendly and can usually fit in emergency appointments within one or two days. Billing is straightforward and I never feel like they push unnecessary expenses. Thanks for all your assistance! Manchego appreciates it.

Dr. Buttar has been my Pom's vet for three years now. Dr. Buttar has always been assertive on his diagnosis, kind, and professional to my dog and I.
The Vet office is always cleaned and organized and the staff is friendly. The waiting time for an appointment is also very reasonable. The price is average. My experience at this clinic has always been positive.

If I could give more stars I would! I called in to El Cerrito Veterinary Care to get an appointment and spoke with a receptionist who said they didn't have any appt that day but could schedule me for following day. I explained I was a referral from Pet Vet who mentioned they were a new practice and she had heard that they had lots of diagnostic equipment like a Surgery Area, Xray and MRI machine etc. and that they were reasonable in fees and customers were highly pleased with services they provided. I explained the Pet Vet Veterinarian had told me there would-be no-good outcome as my cat Layla was in a critical condition and whatever was the cause it would be life threatening. I got a call about an hour later saying we need to see her today! (after the receptionist explained to the vet my request to see them asap) could you come at the end of the day around 7 pm as our Vet understands your cat Layla needs to be seen immediately. My appt was delayed as several surgeries were just completed and instructions had to be given to the recovering dog's caregivers. I watched as Heather gave detailed instructions how to manage the after surgery care with each dog patiently answering questions and details caregivers needed to know. I have had 50 years of experience with many vets over the years, but this experience was quite amazing. Heather eventually brought me into a patient room and looked over Layla 's condition very gently ... I was quite upset as she told me basically there was no hope for Leyla both options of what was causing the extreme edema were a death sentence. She explained the diagnostic cost and what the two causes she saw were signs of her imminent death. This was the first time I have had a veterinarian not recommend extensive testing: not recommend I spend a large sum on finding out the exact cause of the problem. Not only was she compassionate and kind & extremely gentle handling Leyla & she was also honest and told me the truth there was no hope and no good outcome. She also asked many questions before she concluded and gave me many options... I can't even describe the merciful and compassionate way she handled giving me such bad news but I appreciate her honesty. She gave me her advice and let me decide if I wanted to wait till I had adjusted to the news of Leyla's serious condition to make any decisions. I am so impressed with the expertise and kindness I received and I hope their practice thrives as it is rare to find very compassionate thoughtful & kind veterinarian who doesn't recommend spending large fees and testing when it is obvious the outcome would be the same. Thank you all at El Cerrito Veterinary Care! You are the best practice I have had the experience of using in over 50 years of pet care! The many other practices have now become Corporate owned have high fees and always recommend extensive testing and even with cancer recommend extensive treatments to delay your pet's demise often with very painful end of life results. You won't get a more kind, humane, compassionate, understanding, thoughtful and responsive practice! We need more of this type of care for all our family. Thank You Heather Kriensky and all at El Cerrito Vet Care JT

Both of our kittens Momo and Zeus have been seeing Dr. Heather Kriensky since 2020! She is incredible and has helped both kittens grow up to be healthy! She is super responsive, properly diagnoses/examines, and most importantly doesn’t overcharge or do uncomfortable things to our boys like other inexperienced doctors do! Going to neuter and chip my Bengal F3 Zeus with them soon with her and I know I can trust her and her service team!
