I highly recommend Dr. Lau as a family doctor. He is exceptionally knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cares about his patients' well-being. Dr. Lau takes the time to listen and provide thorough explanations, ensuring we feel comfortable and informed. Additionally, he is always on time, which makes appointments smooth and stress-free. His professionalism and dedication make him an excellent choice for anyone seeking quality medical care.

I have been there multiple times. This is the best example how medical system has failed in Canada. Appointments are pushed by 10days ahead despite urgent matters. No walk-ins even in urgent matters .Front staff are trained to repeat generic answers without listening when you talk with them. Also, to get paediatrician if it is urgent you are still in line for 2 months. Doctor is surgical with time. Once your time ends, he stands on exit door wanting to go for the next room. This is the clinic looks like it is managed by rigid robots rather than with blood humans.

I've heard some people say that the doctors at this clinic are nothing more than robots.
I can only speak for one doctor in the clinic and that's my family doctor Dr.Lau. I have however also had only great experiences with reception.

Dr. Lau is to the point and he stays focused on the issue. He may not be the most "how was your summer vacation?" kind of doctor, but that also means he spends time really going over your symptoms and exploring how to help you.
I obviously don't know him personally, but I truly think that any "robotic" walls that one could feel is him consciously trying to find that perfect level of caring for his patient vs. caring to a point of burn out. Professional boundaries often have to be a conscious effort (which might come off as robotic to some) for people who truly care about their patients, and I believe Dr.Lau truly does.

He has been an amazing help to my husband and I. Caring, attentive, and proactive.
I have an issue with people-pleasing and as a result I try to undersell or sugarcoat my symptoms to doctors. My husband has a hard time with describing his symptoms and ends up talking non-stop. Dr.Lau always asks the right questions and we leave feeling like he actually got accurate answers out of us.

As a nurse, I really appreciate that he actually listens and considers what I believe could be wrong with me, but also isn't one to go along with it if he doesn't think I'm in the right direction. He also acts this way with my husband (who has no medical background of any sort). This really makes us feel like we can trust him with our health because his goal is clearly to find a solution, and doesn't let any ego or fear get in the way of that.

While dealing with my disability insurance case manager, even he commented that he thought my family doctor seemed "extremely on top of things". He was surprised at how fast Dr.Lau managed to get me checked for so many issues, and expressed that he felt I had a great family doctor. My husband and I 100% agree. We feel very lucky to have him as a family doctor.

I’ve had good experience and I’ve had bad. Been a patient for about a year with my son.

Clear and honest review.

It could be the broken healthcare system or overwhelming number of patients to doctors.

Cons
1) appointments are too far apart to see your physician.

2) some of the front desk staff need training I’ve experienced terrible ones who lack empathy, do not listen to the patient concerns and can be extremely rude no matter how nice you are to them. I’ve also encountered very nice ones who seem to like the job they do.

3) the front desk staff do not follow up or call back never ever ever ever ever !!! You have to consistently call the office, sometimes they answer sometime they don’t.

4) technology is so advance and the clinic is far behind, I would leave it at that.

5) simple process that can be done in a day take weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know if it’s to milk the healthcare system or what!

6) it’s impossible to speak or get a message to the physician and most time the message is not delivered correctly, but you can wait 10-15 for a possible appointment to relate the message yourself

Pros

1) The Doctors seem to care.
2) The facility is clean
3) Direct bill and insurance claims are processed correctly.
4) No wait time with appointment.
5) Pharmacy next to the facility, and Doctors send needed medication to Pharmacy of choice quickly.
6) No delay with Prescription refills

Overall discomfort with the facility policy and procedures around appointments, important direct messaging to Doctors and TRAIN THE FRONT DESK STAFF.

Yes it is healthy care, patients should be treated as if they are paying for luxury services. If everyone paid out of pocket I’m sure things would be better!

Worst clinic ever constantly changing policies, say o e thing and then it does not get done , doctor Ambrose is not pro active and is unconcerned with his patients, staff have no proper problem solving skills, all in all the clinic feels it is entitled to just get patients and not keep them informed of changes

I want to take a moment to thank my wonderful doctor of two years, Dr. Tololupe Akinola. She has been extremely helpful to me, and for that reason I recommend her and this clinic highly.

Unlike many doctors in my experience, Dr. Akinola does not dismiss patient concerns, even if they have a history of mental health issues or are “hysterical/anxious” women.

In my past experience with doctors, many of them male, I found my concerns dismissed and easily explained as caused by anxiety. Yes, I have a history of anxiety. No, it doesn’t cause every symptom I experience. No, it does not make me an unreliable narrator of my own life or my symptoms. Sometimes I have been frustrated with doctors because as soon as they know I have past struggles with anxiety or depression, they begin to treat me differently, like a hysterical woman.

(For more about the history and current experiences of women with medical care, I recommend the book Unwell Women: Misdiagnosis and Myth in a Man-Made World by Elinor Gleghorn)

Dr. Akinola is not like my many other doctors. While acknowledging the role anxiety plays in my life, she actually listens and doesn’t pin all my health issues on my anxiety. She offers potential reasons for my concerns and sends me for testing/bloodwork to ease my mind. She doesn’t just try to rush me, the patient, out as soon as possible. In her office, I feel heard and supported. That is why I have kept seeing her all these years and will wait weeks to see her rather than any other doctor.

I had to go on a medical leave from work, and Dr. Akinola has been supportive through the experience. I think she genuinely wants her patients to be happy and have a successful return to work. For example, I was experiencing random leg movements at night that I could not control. They were terrifying and definitely didn’t help my sleep issues. Dr. Akinola immediately pinpointed the offending drug. Once it was removed from my daily routine, the symptom resolved. This is just one example of her knowledge and expertise. She didn’t just write my concern off as no big deal. Instead, she listened and suggested a solution.

When I need testing, she sends me to see other specialists to get to the bottom of issues instead of sweeping them under the rug. It really eases my mind.

My husband has also had wonderful experiences with Dr. Akinola. He is overweight and this has caused some health issues for him. In one instance, he did some bloodwork that came back with concerning results, and Dr. Akinola called him right away to compassionately share the news and suggest next steps. Thanks to Dr. Akinola’s intervention, my husband was finally diagnosed with sarcoidosis and was prescribed medication for high cholesterol. He feels hopeful that he can lose weight and return to great health with Dr. Akinola on his health team.

Some reviewers have noted that sometimes they show up for an appointment and they had to wait. That’s happened to me too, but to be honest, I don’t mind. I know that Dr. Akinola and the other doctors at this clinic may be running late because they are actually taking the time to listen to patients and offer them in-depth care. Unlike many doctors out there, Dr. Akinola actually cares and takes the time needed to help her patients. If it means I see her a bit later than expected, I’m fine with that.

In short, don’t hesitate to visit this clinic and especially Dr. Akinola. She is an extremely knowledgeable, intelligent, and caring doctor. I have always respected doctors because I think doctors are smart and noble people. I have learned through interactions with many doctors that that’s not always the case. When it comes to Dr. Akinola, she is the real deal.

Keep up the great work!

Called to book my daughter's appointment, she was experiencing problem still didn't get appointment sooner. they booked her after 2 weeks. When i called i clearly mentioned i need for South clinic, when i received message to confirm appointment they booked her at north location which is 45 minutes away from my home. when i called to complain they said you have to wait another 3 weeks to see doctor. avoid this place at any cost they don't care about patient problem and staff are very good at making mistake. If i can give 0 start i would do so.

I wanted to take the time to write my review for Dr Akinola and the staff at Qurely Clinic. Although they are busy I have always felt welcome and never rushed by front staff or doctors. Never treated impatiently. . Dr Akinola is attentive and collaborative. I feel heard for the first time in a long time. And because I appreciate the time she spends listening and documenting that translates into me also be extra patient when having to wait longer than expected. If she's not rushing through my concerns why would she be rushing through others. I believe they do the best they can with how our system is set up right now. Staff is always friendly and the clinic has always been clean. Thankful to have found this clinic.
