Long but please read! For two months we repeatedly took my dog here for a mystery illness. We were told it was a bee sting or allergies and were sent to a specialist. He had started to develop muscle wasting in his head which we called the day he started showing symptoms. I was told if he stops eating to call but nothing else (despite what the records sent to our new vet say). When the specialist saw him he stated it looked like masticatory muscle myositis and told NK Animal Hospital this. I brought him in the same week and was brushed off about these issues as well as a new issue with his nose. A few days later she stopped eating and I called again and they got us in for an emergency appointment. Dr Holmes looked at a picture of my dogs nose (because she was too afraid to get close to him) and told me he had a tumor in his nose and “the prognosis is grim”. I took him to Angell a few days later where we were told that the MMM should have been treated by our vet sooner and he could progress to a point of NEVER BEING ABLE TO OPEN HIS MOUTH AGAIN. after further testing, he has nasal discharge and no tumor in his nose (thank god but what the heck). However, he can only open his mouth 7cm and this will never get better because it progressed so far without treatment. When I called to state this I was told “I’m sorry you feel that way”. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE if you want actual compassionate real care for your fur babies.

Edit in response to their response. We were not told of a follow up appointment after the initial appointment. There was not one scheduled with us and I received no reminders if they had it on their side. We brought him 6 or 7 times in a 2 month span and there were countless phone calls. We had to push for blood work for hypothyroidism too because we were told this was normal for him. We also had to push for blood work for MMM but were told they would need to do a biopsy anyways. They also did not offer to do the blood work, I had to specifically ask. In regards to the initial muscle wasting phone call. I was specifically told that they couldn’t see anything in the picture and to call back if he stopped eating. They did not offer further testing. Please do not believe their lies here. Our dog will have damages for the rest of his life. They brushed us off at every turn and are trying to cover.

I have been taking my pets here for 24 years. Previously a patient of Dr B and now Dr Mandarini. Both were and are excellent caretakers in my opinion. I would give 5 stars if I didn’t have this experience today… my dog had a 8:40 appointment this morning and my husband brought him in. He arrived at 8:41 and let my dog pee outside before bringing him inside. While in the parking lot (8:43) he received a text message asking if he was late. HE WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE IN THE PARKING LOT! He walked in at 8:46… The girl at the desk told my husband that because he was more than 5 minutes late he would need to reschedule! I have been here many times over the past 24 years and have waited in excess of 15 minutes with no complaints! I have never heard of or been told of this 5 minute “policy”! The waiting room was empty, they saw my husband in the parking lot with my dog at 8:41 while he was peeing, and they turned him away anyway! He now has to return at 10:20 causing stress to not only us but to our dog because now he has to go to the vet twice in one day. We own our own business and would never turn a client away over 5 minutes especially if there’s nobody else waiting and especially a loyal 24 year client. It’s a wellness check ffs! No shots, no medical issues, just a 10 minute wellness check! Disappointed right now!!

Dr.Holmes and her staff are amazing with my lab mix. We got him from a rescue and he is anxious and she is so patient with him. Each time he goes to the vet he is getting more and more relaxed due to her patience and empathy.
I am so grateful.

Absolutely love the staff at NK Animal Hospital! Very friendly, calming and caring! Dr. Springer was wonderful. Although, Gizmo wasn’t pleased being left there for a few hours….we both feel better knowing tests and X-rays were done and look good at this point in time!

Called late in the afternoon because my indoor cat got out and came back with tiny tick nymphs all over her eyes, they said bring her right in and we'll take a look. They got them all off and did a great job with a not so nice kitty!

We have a 16 year old that North Kingstown Animal Hospital has taken care of for years! She is mouthy! They love her. I love how they put me at ease and her acceptance of them. It is as though she knows they are her medical team. I do not know how. Recently lots of changes in her health. I have had so many new things to do for her and they have been so patient with my constant calls as we have never had to do so much for her before. They are bending over backwards sideways for so many. Our little girl appears to be responding favorably. They are good to stay in touch and re-educate us even though so busy. We right now do not know what normal looks like for her and the changes whether all of them are for the good so thankful they are working with us to reassure us and see us through this extra managed care for her. They are a real answer to prayer for us.
